Tomorrow, the largest powerlifting meet in U.S. history and one of the largest ever in the world will begin in Scranton, PA. As of the entry deadline, 1147 lifters were entered. It is likely that number will drop a little due to withdrawals but there still should be about 1100 lifters competing over the next four days. According to the roster, Minnesota will be represented by the following 13 lifters: Cheryl Anderson-Edelstein, Taylor Atwood, Taryn Hoppe, Eric Lohman, Judy Drenth, Mikaela Raddatz, Carley Miller, Caleb Happel, Gary Grahn, Larry Schulte, Shannon Murphy, Nick Tylutki, and Brad Gillingham. Among this group are several world and national champions. The meet officially kicks off tonight with the Raw Committee meeting. The most significant agenda item is a proposal from the Raw Committee to significantly increase qualifying totals for future Raw Nationals. The location for 2018 Raw Nationals will also be selected from the following three cities: Aurora, CO; Killeen, TX, and Spokane, WA. Please join me is wishing good luck, safe travels, and white lights to all of our fellow Minnesotans involved in Raw Nationals (as lifters, coaches, spectators, and officials). The meet will be streamed and can be watched live online. To access the meet roster, live stream link (via Bodybuilding.com), and meet results, click here.
